"People are exposed to outdoor advertising for only a few seconds, so a good billboard should only have seven words and two things to look at," says Glen Lane. Your book's cover acts as a billboard, so those same comments apply to it, too
"When setting out on a journey, do not seek advice from those who never left home," said Rumi. The most expensive thing about book publishing and marketing is a mistake. Seek advice from experts to help you start on, or get on, the right path, heading in the right direction.

Most authors do it backwards. They create a manuscript, produce the book and then seek a buyer for it. Instead, start by defining your target reader, find a market need and then write the content to meet it.

3 things every fire needs are ignition, fuel and oxygen. The same apply to authors. Set a goal to ignite your desire to sell more books. Fuel that desire with creativity and passion. When things don't go your way, take a deep breath and try again.
September is Be Kind to Editors and Writers Month. Include that in your package to reviewers, distributors, media people… 😊
End each sales presentation with a success story. Paint a picture of what life will look like once your prospect adapts your recommendation.
Ratchet up the quality of the people you spend time with. A rising tide lifts all boats. Who are you floating your boat with?
Don't think about how many books you can sell, but about how you can sell them. As Warren Buffett said, "Games are won by players who focus on the playing field, not by those whose eyes are glued to the scoreboard."

When asked an important question while selling your books, always pause for at least a silent count of three before replying – especially if it is easy to answer. You will appear more thoughtful, and you will make your prospects feel good that they asked a difficult question.
