Book-Marketing Tip of the Week – July 13, 2009

Apply the same due diligence in the decision process when selecting a
distributor in special markets that you would in traditional marketing.
Compare discounts and terms. Are you paid in 90 days? Are you paid for
sales or collections? Is there an amount held in escrow for returned
books? What return rates do they experience? Do they carry competitive
titles? How many salespeople will represent your titles? If you are
evaluating sales rep groups, make sure you have adequate geographical
coverage.
